HISTORY

The San Jose Waterworks Service Cooperative was formerly known as San Jose Water System. It was built and designed in the early 1900’s to originally serve only 300 households in the Municipality of San Jose. As time went by, consumers increased to more than 1,000 households and resulted to shortage of water supply thereby producing dry faucets and empty containers, particularly during summertime. The San Jose Water System then was in dire need of repairs and improvement.

Luckily, in 1984 the Barangay Water Program (BWP) of Ministry of Local Government (MLG) received a P16.36 million as grant from USAID for spring development, installation of water pumps, transmission and distribution lines, and construction of pump house, reservoir, and water meters for 1,200 households for San Jose Water System with a target of 1,703 households for eight (8) poblacion barangays.

To ensure the sustainability of water supply, the San Jose Waterworks Service Cooperative is engaged in watershed protection and rehabilitation of watershed areas with three bantay gubat regularly doing foot patrol and maintenance activities.
